The premise of Rubber Chicken Circuit is simple: we want to keep you updated on electoral politics without either boring or overwhelming you.
If you have a love-hate relationship with politics Twitter and chasing the presidential hopefuls—their ambitious (or lazy) platforms, their place in the polls, their gaffes, and the ridiculousness of it all—but feel overwhelmed, confused or downright depressed by the endless barrage of news, think-pieces, and callouts, this is the place for you.
Each week we’ll follow the Democratic candidates for President, summing up their highs and lows one by one (plus some key Trump notes). This isn’t just horse-race politics (cuz what’s the use of knowing a person’s electability if you don’t know what they stand for?), but it’s not just policy stuff either. It’s everything we find interesting, and nothing we don’t: from memes and magazine covers to wealth-tax proposal details.
We’re following:
Bernie’s likable unlikeability
Kamala’s cop years
Warren’s student debt cancellation
Buttigieg’s DMB live tape collection
Beto’s dog
Subscribe and we’ll do the work of sorting out the signal from the noise of the primary races for you, so you can decide who you support. Our weekly candidate summary will always be free, but we’ll add deeper subscription analysis once we get going. We want to answer your candidate questions, like a personal research lab.
By the way: “Rubber Chicken Circuit” is a term dating back to 1972 that describes the endless luncheons and dinners, often featuring overcooked poultry, that politicians have to attend to get elected. We think it aptly describes the grinding, absurd process of running for office in the U.S. But if you feel uncomfortable saying “Rubber Chicken” out loud, you can just call us The Circuit.
Also this video pretty much describes our reaction to politics:
